Please read the following ahead of booking your tickets

For Garden & Castle entry, tickets are available online but can also be purchased from the gate on arrival. For our event days (Jousts, cinema, birds of prey, murder mystery etc.) we highly recommend booking tickets in advance as these events do sell out on a first come first served basis. Tickets for events can be booked here.

Yes there is free on site parking. Whether you visit on one of our event days, an open day or are a guest at a wedding, there will be someone on the gate guiding you where to park on arrival.

Child (under 4 years): freeA family ticket is excellent value for larger groups if there is at least one child aged 4-16 with you. Choose from 2 options:
- A 1-adult family ticket includes admission for 1 adult and as many children (under 17) that you can get in the car. Priced £25.
- A 2-adult family ticket includes admission for 2 adults and as many children (under 17) as you can get in the car. Priced £34.

Entry time varies for every event. For Garden Entry days, the grounds are open at 11am until 4pm. For the larger events, including Jousts and Car Shows, the gates open at 10am with no latest arrival time - just arrive when suits you, these events usually finish around 4pm. For theatre and cinema events, please see specific event information for entry time as these are usually held in the evening.

If purchasing a ticket for Garden & Castle Entry, the ticket price includes access to the grounds throughout the estate and the Castle (excluding Escape Room).
Inclusions for tickets for Event days vary depending on the event. At our Joust events, the ticket includes access to the main arena with the Joust and falconry displays as well as free entry to the ‘Have a go’ stalls (for example, archery, axe throwing, mechanical jousting horse). Food and drink is not included with any ticket unless specified.

Picnics are welcome; there are picnic benches located on the bailey near the Keep and there are many beautiful spots within the grounds that are perfect for a picnic. Please dispose of any rubbish using the bins provided around the estate.

Most of the grounds are accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs, with accessible access up to the lawns in front of the Castle. The path within the woodland is unmade and uneven in places but mostly suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs - please note this is dependent on the weather as the woodland paths can get muddy when wet.
The Castle has steps at the entrance up to the first floor and to access all floors within so is not suitable for wheelchairs and prams. Lifting services can be booked for weddings and private events in advance if required, please contact us for more information about this service.

Yes, there are toilets, including accessible, located on the bailey close to the Castle.

For health and safety reasons, and for the comfort of other visitors, bikes and scooters are not permitted in the grounds.

Standard charges apply to visitors with accessible needs, carers are permitted free of charge and should select the free Adult ticket option. Proof of disability will be requested on arrival, which may include a Blue Badge, statement of educational needs from LEA or NHS, or a letter from a medical professional on NHS headed paper or a DLA letter from the Department of Work & Pensions. If this information is not provided on arrival, payment in full will be requested.

Yes, please show your Blue Badge as soon as you arrive at the gate and you will be shown where to park.

Within reason, Hedingham Castle aims to collect, store and return items of property that are deemed to be genuinely lost by visitors and guests in the castle and grounds and likely to be sought by the original owner.
Enquiries for items lost during the day of visit can be made in person at the Gate or in the Keep cafe. For enquiries after a visit, please email mail@hedinghamcastle.co.uk Please include a full description of the item, including brand, size, colour, unique features or other details that will help with identification. It may also be necessary for us to request specific information for certain items, including, description of contents for bags, wallets and purses, phone numbers or un-lock codes for mobile phones and distinguishing marks or engravings on jewellery.
Items that are handed into us will be kept within a secure location for a period of twenty-eight days. Perishable items will be kept for the date on which the item was found. Items of obvious nil value may also be kept for the duration of the original visit only.
While we will take due care when collecting, storing and dispersing property within our remit, no claim whatsoever will be accepted for any loss arising from our involvement in this process.
If goods are unclaimed, despite our efforts and a reasonable timeframe having passed, we will dispose of goods in a manner that we see fit. This may include donation to charity or third parties, or sale of goods through any channel. In line with General Data Protection Regulations, we will not disperse any goods that contain personable identifiable information. Any items such as mobile phones will be data cleansed before dispersal or sale.

It depends: Yes - on general open days, in the grounds only. No - on event days including Jousts.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on the grounds with Garden & Castle Entry but not the Castle. Dogs are NOT permitted on the grounds during event days (including Jousts), due to the number of people and children attending (and often horses/birds of prey/livestock), or at weddings. and must be kept on a lead at all times.
If bringing your dog on a general open day, please be a responsible dog owner and clean up after them.

Yes, we have 2 season ticket options available for Garden & Castle entry - one for the residents of local villages Castle Hedingham and Sible Hedingham (proof of residence required on collection) and a standard season ticket. Both give 12 months unlimited access to the grounds on our Garden & Castle Open Days, not including event days.

Hedingham Castle is a privately owned estate and is not part of the National Trust or English Heritage. We are, however, a member of the Historic Houses Association (HHA) and allow free access to HHA members on our Garden Open Days - please select the HHA ticket option when booking. Click here for more information and to purchase a membership. Please note, membership is not valid for use on event days.

This offer permits 2-4-1 access to the grounds on Garden & Castle Open Days when a full price standard Adult ticket is purchased. Please select the free ‘Gardener’s World’ ticket option for the second person when booking your tickets online. Your 2-4-1 pass card must be shown on arrival to validate your ticket. If it is not shown on arrival, payment in full on arrival will be required for the second ticket. Please note, the pass is not valid for use on Event days or in conjunction with any other offer.

Our tearoom is situated inside the Castle and is open during Garden & Castle Entry Days and event days, serving hot and cold drinks and light snacks such as cakes and crisps. We encourage card payments in the tearoom where possible but can also take cash. We offer indoor seating as well takeaway service. Please note, there are steep steps to access the tearoom with no lift available.

All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable to alternative dates or alternative events.

The use of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) is strictly forbidden anywhere within the Hedingham estate unless approved ahead of arrival.
